In the spring,
audiences turned out to support Austin bluesman W. C. Clark, recovering
from a terrible car accident that claimed the life of his fiancée and his
drummer. It was a heart-rendering reminder of the toll the road can exact,
but Clark's strength in the face of injury and loss inspired everyone who
came in contact with him.

Speaking of his philosophy on his music, "It's best when you get the
spirit thing," Clark says. "It doesn't matter whether you are playing guitar,
shootin' pool or drivin' nails, it's the same thing. Some special times, it's just perfect
and easy and that's when you're tappin' into the spirit. The spirit is the truth...I know
how to make people move, and sometimes I get lucky and tap into that spirit, that truth.
That's what it's all about."
